Calories

The basic laws for weight loss and weight gain is calories in versus calories out. If you consume more than you burn you will put on weight; burn more than you eat, you will lose fat.

One pound of fat is roughly equal to 3500 calories; Therefore if you burn 3500 calories more than you eat you will lose one pound of fat. Then gain one pound if you eat 3500 calories more than you burn.

No diet will work without using these principles. If any lose weight diets are not using these rules they will fail.

You should follow the 3 guidelines below when reviewing lose weight diets:

1. A good rule of thumb is to try and burn 500 calories more than you eat everyday which adds up to 3500 calories throughout the week. This is easily achievable with small changes to your eating habits.

2. You should avoid lose weight diets which have you reducing your calorie intake by a lot more than 500 calories a day. These starvation diets will not work for very long as they will slow your metabolism down and make it even harder than normal to lose weight.

3. Don’t reduce calorie intake for longer than 3 days as your starvation mode will kick in and slow down weight loss. Your body will hold onto fat when this happens. Any diet that doesn’t consider this will not work.

Warning: Any lose weight diets that don’t adhere to the guidelines above will not work so ignore them at your peril.
